Entrance, hallways, stairs and landings...

These pictures were taken not long after we'd had our offer accepted. The developer was happy for me to come and go, to take pictures, measure up and just have a little wander, there was one condition; I didn't get in any of his trades way...

It was so exciting, even with all of the different trades working away in the house I could always find somewhere to be by myself, then I would set to work holding up many of my paint and wallpaper samples on various locations of said room. From the off set I could see how each room would look and connect with one another. This was one of the most exciting part for me.

I knew what colour I wanted for the halls and landing, it's a huge space in the house with four flights of stairs and very large landing areas. I knew that I'd want to use a palette of muted tones in the rooms off this area so needed a strong colour that would hold its own. We had the stair banisters and railings painted white and the walls Farrow and Ball Hardwick White; a stunning off white which looks like the most beautiful earthy green.

2nd flight of stairs and the right the 3rd. Photo is blurry as I'd
already got in one of the trades way!

The renovations begin...

We bought a house. It's a beautiful four bed Victorian mid terrace. Nestled at the bottom of a lovely hill where a beautiful church sits proudly at the top. We have stunning views of the Blackdown Hills from all of the floors at the front of the house and a stunning natural beauty reserve at the back. Home is in the magnificent county of Devon.

We bought our house from the developer at the very early stages of renovation, this meant we were able to make the decisions on all of the interiors; kitchens, bathrooms, tiles, taps, flooring and paint. This held huge appeal for me; I was so keen to make these decisions. As much as I loved the house and location I really didn't want to live with somebody elses interior choices especially when I had such a clear vision of the end result.

The terrace (as I now call it) was formally two houses; in the eighties the NHS occupied both houses. Luckily the majority of the beautiful features were kept. The developer, who bought the properties in 2013 converted them into four properties; two three beds and two four beds. The four beds have the original staircases and many of the original beautiful features.

Luckily for us and anyone else who may own these beautiful homes in the future, the developer hails from a beautiful Devon longhouse who he and his wife have meticulously renovated. He showed such respect for every single feature within our house, restoring the sash windows, the coving, the ceiling roses, the original floor tiles and the beautiful fireplaces. If it hadn't have been for said developer taking on this project then there would have been a good chance we'd have never bought it.

Our developer is the most genuine person, he was professional but friendly from the word go, I liked him immediately. He answered every single one of my questions and many emails along the way.  He
is a perfectionist and that showed in every step of the renovation. One of the greats in the building trade for sure.

Next post I'll show the house at the stage we entered; still pretty raw and needing a lot of work.

For the time being, here's a couple of pictures of just one of the many stunning beaches we get to explore which are within 25 minutes of our lovely home.
